My brother–blond, blue-eyed, and 6’1″ tall–came to Tahoe to take some pictures of the moon. In the process, he called to see if we would be open for breakfast.
Of course, I told him. He has been planning on coming to the area for the last few years. We skirted around subjects of my sisters, mother, and his soon-to-be x-wife. We showed him Virginia City and Genoa. We dragged him back to the apartment complex and showed him the red-tail hawk nest that was in the center of our apartment complex.
I started to see laugh lines around his mouth. Soon he was relaxed enough to flirt with the waitresses. I could see the charm that had given him two x-wives and two sons.
A few years ago, he was all business, business, business. He had bought an auto-body shop and was trying to get it going. This brother of mine was doing well in the money department, but, not so well in the relationship department. He had stress lines on his face and mouth. Last year, he found out that at his mid-30′s he was starting to have cholesterol and possible heart problems.
He began eating better. He started to find hobbies. This guy who had never done anything in the art department is becoming a photographer in between his business interests. So I am back to the moon.
This brother is interested in landscapes, but soon he thinks he will use his photography skills to shoot animals and birds. He’s planning on taking a class at UNLV. Maybe in the future you might see a coffee table book filled with Nevada pictures. Some might have pictures of the jewel of the West–Tahoe under the full moon.
